Significant and Landmark Trees

In 2007, The Urban Forestry Ordinance of the Public Works Code was revised by the Board of Supervisors to protect certain trees on private property that are close to the public right-of-way.

Significant trees are on private property and within 10 feet of the public right-of-way and also meet one of the following size requirements:

The San Francisco Public Works public records request process is structured in accordance with the SF Sunshine Ordinance (Chapter 67 of the San Francisco Administrative Code) and the California Public Records Act (California Govt. Code § 6250 et seq).

Street Trees and Plants

Mission and Vision:  The Bureau of Urban Forestry enhances the City's green infrastructure by preserving and growing the trees and plants that make up our urban forest. The Bureau also repairs tree-related sidewalk damage and provides emergency tree response. 

Storm Preparation

San Francisco winter storms can cause floods, landslides, uprooted trees, and downed or broken utility lines in almost any neighborhood. The City and County of San Francisco has prepared safety tips to help you have a safe winter and protect yourself and your property. For all emergencies, call 911. To report downed tree limbs, clogged catch basins or localized flooding, call 311.

 

Recycling and Refuse Collection

We work non-stop to remove litter and abandoned materials from our streets and sidewalks to keep them safe and clean for the public.  We also partner with Recology to provide bulky item and litter receptacle services in addition to their regularly scheduled refuse pickups.

Public Toilets
